ЧЕМ … ТЕМ … Сравнительный оборот на английском. Примеры и упражнения

Чем больше я учу английский язык, тем больше он мне нравится.

В этом предложении использована сравнительная конструкция ЧЕМ…, ТЕМ…

Сегодня поговорим о том, как использовать подобную конструкцию в английском языке.

Давайте переведем наше предложение на английский.

Получится следующее:

The more I study English, the more I like it.

Как видно из примера, конструкция образована следующим образом:

The прилагательное/наречие в сравнительной степени + the прилагательное/наречие в сравнительной степени

Также стоит упомянуть, что в подобных сравнительных конструкциях могут употребляться как одинаковые прилагательные или наречия, как в нашем с вами примере, так и разные. Вот вам несколько примеров с переводом.

Примеры употребления конструкции ЧЕМ… ТЕМ на английском

1. The more she reads, the less she understands. – Чем больше она читает, тем меньше она понимает.
2. The less money you spend, the more you save. – Чем меньше денег ты тратишь, тем больше накопишь.
3. The higher you climb, the colder it gets. – Чем выше ты забираешься, тем холоднее становится.
4. The older we grow, the wiser we become. – Чем старше мы становимся, тем мудрее (мы становимся).
5. The more you give, the more you get. – Чем больше ты отдаешь, тем больше получаешь.
6. The hotter, the better. – Чем жарче, тем лучше.

Romantic Story

Alice first met Mike at a party. She came there with Patrick but he met some of his old friends and was talking to them. Alice saw Mike on the other side of the yard. Suddenly Mike turned and saw Alice watching him. She felt a bit embarrassed and looked away. When she looked at him again, Mike was walking towards her.
